The
Grand Mercure Roxy Hotel in Singapore is taking bathroom sanitary science to a new level by introducing a first in
Singapore – the use of ultra-violet light to check the cleanliness of each guest bathroom. Since ultra-violet lights enable people to
see beyond the capabilities of the human eye, guests can now be assured that all bathrooms are extra clean for guest’s added
protection and personal health.
All room attendants, each responsible for a section of 16 rooms are equipped with a personal ultra-violet lamp. Every day, after
thorough cleaning the responsible room attendant and a floor supervisor use the ultra-violet lamps to jointly inspect each
bathroom. All spots or stains seen under the lamp will then be removed and re-checked, again with the ultra-violet lamp. All
these activities are then documented for internal records.
By introducing the highest possible standards for guest room hygiene, Grand Mercure Roxy Hotel General Manager, Vincent
Lelay, said: “We are committed to improving our hotel’s services and facilities for our guests – this Ultra-Violet light program is
one way of showing that we care.”
Located on Marine Parade Road, Grand Mercure Roxy Hotel is just across the street from Parkway Parade Shopping Center and
within walking distance to East Coast Recreation Park and beach. The hotel boasts 520 guestrooms and suites, 3 restaurants
and bars, 9 meeting/function rooms, fitness center, launderette, spa and in-room massage.
