Name change for Raffles Amrita Spas

Travel News Asia 1 September 2004

From today, Amrita Spas located in the eight operating Raffles hotels and resorts worldwide will be known as RafflesAmrita Spa. These hotels are Raffles Hotel and Raffles The Plaza, Singapore; Raffles Hotel Le Royal, Phnom Penh and Raffles Grand Hotel d’Angkor, Siem Reap in Cambodia; Raffles Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten, Hamburg, Germany; Raffles Le Montreux Palace, Montreux, Switzerland; Raffles L’Ermitage, Beverly Hills, USA and Raffles Resort Canouan Island, The Grenadines.

The name RafflesAmrita combines the Raffles name with the Sanskrit word Amrita. The Amrita name is derived from the ancient Sanskrit legend where, from the beginning of time, Hindu deities searched for “Amrita,” an elixir that promised eternal youth.

RafflesAmrita Spa’s unique approach is the result of combining the best of Eastern and Western philosophies and methodologies carefully selected from around the world. Traditional spa rituals such as the practice of wraps and aromatherapy massages are featured alongside modern therapies such as chamomile body scrubs and facials. Eastern inspired treatments include Ayurvedic and hot stone treatments.

To develop brand awareness among residents, RafflesAmrita Spa has developed in cooperation with top professionals in aromatherapy, ayurvedic therapies and botanic and sea science to offer a wide spectrum of health and beauty products that are completely natural and safe to even the most sensitive skin. RafflesAmrita's own private label aromatherapy products will be available at its spas and RafflesAmrita Spa boutiques.

Mr Markland Blaiklock, Managing Director of Raffles Hotels & Resorts, said, “This name change is geared to brand the spas with the hotels they are associated with, namely Raffles hotels.”
