Less than a week after confirming it will begin
flights between Hervey Bay and
Sydney, Virgin Blue has announced a special “wow” sale fare for the new route.
The
A$79 one-way fare is up for grabs from now until 12 September 2004 and is for travel from 29 July to 31 August
2005.
The
low fare airline has committed to starting services into the Fraser Coast region following the
completion of the airport upgrade, which includes lengthening and strengthening the runway to allow for a 737 jet
aircraft to fly in and out. Work is expected to be finished by July next year and Virgin Blue has set July 29 as its first
ever flight into Hervey Bay.
Virgin Blue will operate its direct flight four times a week on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday and will also
offer convenient connecting flights from Hervey Bay to other southern ports including Adelaide from
A$169 one-way on the net and Melbourne from A$149 one-way on the net.
Once the Hervey Bay-Sydney
A$79 sale fare has finished, everyday low fares will start from A$99 one-way on the
net.
Spokesperson Amanda Bolger said, “We very much look forward to bringing the people of Hervey Bay and the
Fraser Coast region a new airline option, more tourists and more opportunities to have the secrets of this stunning
region made accessible and affordable for the world to see.” |
