New Look for renovated Ballroom at Radisson SAS Resort, Sharjah

Travel News Asia 18 October 2004

Radisson SAS Resort, Sharjah, part of the fast-growing Rezidor SAS Hospitality group, is to unveil its newly renovated ballroom at a grand opening ceremony next month.

The major refurbishment, which started in September, is due to be completed in November and will transform the ballroom into a contemporary tropical setting to complement the resort’s aquatic theme.

“The new design will reflect both the prime beachfront location of the Sharjah property and its luxurious ambience,” said Mr. Guy Chidiac, General Manager Radisson SAS Resort, Sharjah. “At the same time, we have ensured that it reflects the cultural richness of the region and the colours and styles chosen blend well with the hotel’s surroundings.”

The makeover, costing AED 2.63 million, will incorporate dramatic crystal chandeliers, alabaster backlit panelling and walnut stained doors as well as a tropical design carpet.

WA International was appointed to design the new look of the ballroom at Radisson SAS Resort. The company is well acquainted with the property as it also redesigning its public areas following a similar theme at the 300 bedroomed, five-star resort. The contract to carry out the renovation was awarded to Castle Concepts.

“The banqueting calendar is already almost fully booked for the first month after opening, which is very encouraging. The very first event to take place in the new ballroom, which will accommodate up to 950 guests, is a ladies’ wedding reception for 550 people,” said Chidiac.
