The Sarojin, a luxury five star 56-room resort and spa, is set to open its doors in January in Khao
Lak, Thailand, an area of outstanding natural beauty located just one hour north of Phuket International Airport.
Sheltered by a headland cape, The Sarojin is nestled in a quiet corner of an 11 km soft white sand beach that offers
year-round swimming and water sports, unlike other beaches on the west coast.
The Sarojins name is inspired by the mythical Lady Sarojin, daughter of a prominent Thai nobleman, who was regarded as
the perfect host, whose household had become famous for its hospitality, comfort and appeal. Reflecting her legacy, The
Sarojin concept is centered on providing an experience that is reminiscent of staying at a friends private estate.
With 56 guest residences set in 10 acres of grounds, the resort is designed in a contemporary Asian style, blending
harmoniously with surroundings that include a magnificent two-level lotus pond, beautifully manicured gardens, natural
streams and, at the spiritual heart, an ancient giant Ficus tree. The gardens also house a 25m infinity-edged swimming
pool, complete with a large Jacuzzi and three shaded island pavilions.
Located in seven separate two-storey buildings, the guest residences range between 95 -150sq m in size, promising
abundant space, peace and tranquility for every guest.
On the upper levels are the largest accommodation units, 14 luxurious Sarojin Suites that have a spacious air-conditioned
Thai living pavilion and private garden sun terrace featuring a dramatic black hemispherical outdoor spa pool.
At the ground level corner of each building are 14 Pool Residences, each offering 120sqm of blissful private relaxation,
with a private sun garden and terrace, Thai lounge sala and a 3.5 x 5.5m plunge pool. Meanwhile, the 28 Garden
Residences, (95sqm ), have private garden terraces and Thai lounge salas for outdoor dining and relaxation.
All guest residences are equipped with a king-size bed, ensuite bathroom in a garden setting with couples bath, waterfall
and adjustable showers, TV and DVD, stereo CD, mini-bar, tea and coffee making facilities, an in-residence safe and IDD
telephone and broadband internet connection. A selection of DVDs for private viewing is available.
The Sarojin promises an interesting choice of dining experiences where ingredients are fresh, chefs are passionate and
the tables are positioned in extraordinary settings.
The Edge, a beach side restaurant set in an open-air thatched timber pavilion, serves international al fresco cuisine such
as fresh catches from the Andaman, pizzas and a multiple of jet-fresh salads. Tables are also set outside on grassy and
sandy areas under the shade of old trees.
Ficus is at the spiritual heart of The Sarojin, set amongst the hanging roots and canopy of the ancient Ficus tree. Here, a
delectable menu of international gourmet cuisine, subtly fused with flavors and twists, is served in a romantic setting.
Meanwhile, the adjacent Cellar is an open-air long bar with cooled wine cellar that is well-stocked with renowned
international wines, available by the glass or bottle.
The Sarojin Lounge is designed like a living room and set above the steps of the magnificent Lotus Pond - an eclectic,
relaxing spot for those who wish to either browse through a book from the in-house library, enjoy a pot of tea or a cooling
drink, or perhaps select a gift from the array of carefully selected gifts and Asian artifacts.
A selective in-residence dining menu is also available.
The Sarojins spa, Pathways, is located over the main estuary and central energy lay line of the resort in a quiet, secluded
corner.
Pathways has views across the estuary to a deserted coconut grove and beyond to the Andaman Sea. It is a peaceful
haven which blends together ancient spa healing rituals to create a natural and harmonious retreat for physical and
spiritual nourishment.
There is also a Fitness Centre with treadmill, lifecycles, multi-gym and free weights, as well as yoga, tai chi, water sports
(catamarans, sea kayaks, windsurfers), mountain biking, petanque and a private croquet lawn at the resort.
Abundant activities in the surrounding area include beach walks, golf, SCUBA and snorkeling at the Similan and Surin
Island National Marine Parks, nature walks and talks, bird and wildlife watching, jungle safaris, elephant trekking, waterfall
treks, rock climbing and hot springs. The resort will supply and cater elegant picnic baskets for the more adventurous
guests who wish to explore. Scheduled for soft opening on January 10th, 2005, the resort is already accepting bookings for that date
onwards.
