Jan Mönkedieck has been appointed General Manager of Japan's first Conrad
hotel, the Conrad Tokyo, a luxurious 296-room property located in the heart of
Tokyo's Shiodome precinct. The hotel is scheduled to open in Spring 2005.
No stranger to Japan, Mönkedieck previously spent two years at the Hilton Tokyo
Bay. During that period he took two additional short assignments as General
Manager to the pre-opening of Hilton Bangalore (India), and as General Manager of
the Grand Hilton Seoul (Korea), a few months later. Jan Mönkedieck joins from the
Hilton Dubai Creek, where he was General Manager of the renowned boutique
hotel, famous for its contemporary art of style in products and services.
A German national, Mönkedieck, 35, has seventeen years of experience in the
hotel industry. He graduated in hotel management and commenced his international career with Hilton International in Europe, between Munich and
London, where he worked for one of Hilton's flagship hotels, the Langham Hilton.
He moved to Asia in 1994 for New World Hotels in Hong Kong, and then transferred to Rangoon (Burma) and Shanghai (China), to finally re-join Hilton
International at the Hilton in Shanghai.
For this new role in Tokyo, Jan will report to Paul Harvey, Hilton International
Vice-President Japan and Micronesia.

Jan and his wife enjoy collecting contemporary Asian art. Both are keen travellers
and enjoy exploring new countries and cultures. Jan holds of a private pilot
license and flies single engine airplanes on weekends. |
