Emirates Airline
is to start offering double services four days a week between Dubai and
Sydney from November 2004. The frequencies will become double daily a year from now.
Dubai-based
Emirates has been providing a non-stop daily service between the two cities since
December.
HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of Emirates said: "We
are very grateful to the government of Australia for granting us the extra
flights and appreciate the support of Mr. John Anderson, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Transport.”
Presently, Emirates’ daily services to Australia also include Brisbane,
Melbourne and Perth. All these flights have outperformed expectations, particularly the Sydney services, and the new flights will help to meet the
airline's current demand.
Emirates
announced earlier this month that it will be operating six new services
from Dubai
to Melbourne from August, and with the new double daily services to Sydney, by March
next year it will offer 41 flights per week between Australia and the Gulf
region. |
