Scott Cammell, one of Australia's most experienced travel industry executives, has been appointed Sales and Marketing Manager - Australia for Hawaiian Airlines, which plans to operate four weekly flights between Sydney and Honolulu, commencing 18 May.

Mr Cammell was previously Sales and Marketing Manager for Concorde SmartFares, the largest air fares database for the travel industry in Australia and New Zealand, prior to which he spent more than 20 years in the tour wholesaling sector, most recently as Managing Director of Insight Vacations in Australia and New Zealand.

Prior to these roles he was Australian Sales Manager for Qantas Jetabout Holidays and National Sales Manager for Newmans Tours in both Australia and New Zealand.

"Scott Cammell brings to Hawaiian Airlines extensive experience in the Australian travel industry," said Mark Dunkerley, President and Chief Operating Officer of Hawaiian Airlines.

"Scott's understanding of the Australian industry, and his specific knowledge of Hawaii, will enable us to build our position in this market quickly and effectively, and we welcome him to our team."

Hawaiian Airlines recently secured from Australian and US authorities approval to begin accepting flight reservations for the new nonstop services, and until 31 March is offering introductory roundtrip fares from AUD $1074, plus tax, from Sydney to Honolulu.

Subject to final approval by the Australian Government and issuance of an international airline license, Hawaiian's first nonstop service - flight HA 22 - will depart Sydney on Tuesday, 18 May.

The airline will then depart Sydney on Sundays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays at 9:30 p.m., crossing the international dateline and arriving in Honolulu at 10.55am the same day.

The return flight will depart Honolulu on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays at 1:30 p.m., arriving in Sydney the following day at 7:30 p.m., as Sydney is 21 hours ahead of Hawaii.

In addition to introductory fares from Sydney to Honolulu, Hawaiian is offering special roundtrip fares from just AUD $1169 - plus taxes - for flights from Sydney to the islands of Kauai, Maui, Molokai, Lanai and Hawaii's Big Island, with same day jet connections from Honolulu.

It is also offering common-rated introductory fares from just $1503 - plus taxes - from Sydney to Hawaiian's eight US mainland destinations - Seattle, Portland, Sacramento, San Francisco, Los Angeles, San Diego, Phoenix and Las Vegas.

Hawaiian will fly the new Sydney route with Boeing 767-300ER wide-body aircraft. The twin-aisle, twin-jet B767 seats 252 passengers, 18 in Business Class and 234 in Economy Class, featuring the comfort and convenience of 2-3-2 economy seating, giving more than 80 per cent of passengers a window or aisle seat.
