Le Méridien Hotels and Resorts has officially broken ground in Siem Reap, Cambodia for its latest five-star resort,
Le Méridien Angkor, which is scheduled to open in September 2004. It will be the newest and closest resort hotel to
the Angkor temple. The hotel is located less than six kilometres from this extraordinary World Heritage site, and only a 15-minute drive
from Siem Reap Airport.
Inspired by the mystique of ancient Angkor Wat, Le Méridien Angkor’s design reaches to the very essence of this
magical place. The building rises on a podium giving it a majestic feeling.
With the maturing of the hotel’s lush gardens, guests will sense an emerald like feeling and then enter into a serene
haven of calm and tranquillity within the hotel’s lobby. Natural light floods in through towering glass walls where the
tastefully selected old world Khmer touches fuse into a modern hotel for contemporary
travellers.
Yves
Mudry, General Manager, Le Méridien Angkor, said: “Angkor Wat is one of the most beautiful historical sites in
the world, and continues to increase in popularity among upmarket tourists. Le Méridien Angkor combines
the intricate designs and magnificence of Khmer-themed architecture with all of the luxury and comfort of modern
amenities in a resort-like atmosphere. It will truly provide the ultimate retreat after a full day of exploration of the
ancient Khmer civilization of Angkor.”
The hotel features 223 guestrooms, including 104 Superior Rooms, 110 Deluxe Rooms, 8 Corner Suites, and 1 Grand
Suite. The Grand Suite and Corner Suites have 114 and 76 square meters of living space, respectively. The elegant
Grand Suite consists of a living room, a bedroom, dining area, dressing area, a pantry room and spacious bathroom
with separate rainfall shower.
A central courtyard is visible from all public areas where a Khmer themed garden, sculptures and water fountains
beckon guests to relax and reverie one of the great wonders of antiquity in this fabled land.
With a primary aim of rejuvenating and re-energizing the body, therapists at Le Méridien Angkor’s Spa offer an array
of body-pampering treatments and the hotel’s unique Khmer themed swimming pool is set in a tropical palm grove
a perfect retreat for fantasy themed parties.
The hotel’s variety of international restaurants and bars features Western, Asian, Italian and Royal Thai cuisine. A
core entertainment venue is the Naga bar which features piano musical and unique classic colonial decoration. |
