Travel News Asia 16 July 2004

AirAsia is to launch a new direct service between Kuala Lumpur International Airport and  Bintulu in Sarawak, the largest petroleum excavation in Malaysia. Scheduled to commence on 30th August 2004, low fares for the daily service will start from RM 79.99 one way.

AirAsia is also increasing its flight frequencies to Sarawak by introducing a 7th daily flight to Kuching (30th Aug), a 3rd daily flight to Miri (27th Aug), and a 2nd daily flight to Sibu (30th Aug). All flights will depart to/from its hub at KL International Airport.

Tony Fernandes, Group Chief Executive Officer, AirAsia Berhad said, “AirAsia is proud to introduce yet another new point to point flight for our network in Malaysia. We are confident that our guests will find the new Kuala Lumpur- Bintulu service, affordable and added convenience for their business and leisure activities. The increased flights are a testament of the popularity of our low fares, where the overwhelming response has driven us to continue boosting our frequencies to Kuching, Miri and Sibu to cope with the increasing demands. We are certain that travelers will find AirAsia’s everyday low fares, and Sarawak’s appeal as a top tourist destination in East Malaysia, a winning combination.”
