Dragonair's
passenger numbers and cargo volumes climbed by 21.0% and 26.1% year-on-year respectively in
November 2004. The latest figures mean 53.6% more passengers and 26.1% more cargo have flown with Dragonair in
the first 11 months of this year than in the same period in 2003.
The airline flew a total of 401,524 people in the month, 11.1% fewer than in October.
“Despite a dip in overall demand, front-end business travel remained quite solid,” noted Dragonair CEO Stanley
Hui, “Leisure travel eased back somewhat, but that was expected given the seasonality of the Mainland market.
Cargo shipments also remained strong, although on a month-on-month basis they eased by a slight 4.1%.
The airline operated several cargo charters in November, including five from Europe to Osaka through its Hong
Kong hub, carrying Beaujolais Nouveau to Japan, and three from Amsterdam to Delhi in India, carrying electronic
parts.
