Qatar Airways has today launched an agreement with Deutsche Bahn to add Fly &
Rail to its services in Germany. The deal will allow passengers connections to
some 6,000 German railway stations.
Mr.
Akbar Al Baker, Qatar Airways' Chief Executive Officer, expressed his delight at being able to offer this new service:
"Together with Deutsche Bahn, Qatar Airways will now be able to offer
passengers access not only to Frankfurt and Munich Airport , but to 14 further
airports all over Germany. Passengers can book connections to other cities'
airports such as Berlin, Hamburg, Cologne, Dresden, Duesseldorf, Hanover, and
even Basel in Switzerland, when they buy their ticket to Germany with Qatar
Airways.
"In addition to offering connections to more cities which have airports this deal
also gives passengers a chance to have rail connections to some 6,000 railway
stations in Germany, covering a network of some 40,000 kilometres of rail track.
"Having one ticket for both air- and rail-travel makes the paperwork easy and
convenient for the passenger, and travelling with both Qatar Airways and
Deutsche Bahn, will ensure excellent service, reliability, and comfort throughout
the entire journey.
"Fly & Rail is a realistic alternative to domestic flights, as the number of
destinations accessible on the rail network far exceeds the number of airports in
Germany, and chances are that the Deutsche Bahn can get you a lot closer to
your chosen destination than a domestic flight could," Mr. Al Baker said.
The Fly & Rail product is available from the affiliated travel agents with immediate
effect. The product is available for the entire Deutsche Bahn network, and is valid
on all train services, including the fast ICE.
Connections will be available to the following German and Swiss airports: Basel,
Berlin, Bremen, Dresden, Duesseldorf, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Hanover, Cologne,
Leipzig/ Halle, Munich, Munster, Nuremberg, and Stuttgart.
Both German Qatar Airways destinations have ideal railway
links, Frankfurt's long distance train station is about 5 minutes walk from Baggage claim. Also Munich
airport has its own railway station. Qatar Airways currently offers 11 direct flights per week from Doha to Frankfurt
