China Southern
Airlines has appointed Mr Bill Bryant as Manager Corporate Affairs, Australia.
Mr Bryant, who is well known in the aviation and tourism industries, succeeds Mr
Frank Gyzemyter, who has been appointed to a Queensland-based role with new
airline Jetstar.
Ms Annie Ye, China Southern’s General Manager Australia, said Mr Gyzemyter
was a founding member of the China Southern team in this country, and played a
key role in preparation for and launch of the carrier’s Boeing 777 services from
Sydney and Melbourne in 2000.
“Frank Gyzemyter has played a significant part in establishing China Southern
Airlines in Australia’s two largest markets, at a time of growing tourism and
commerce between China and Australia,” said Ms Ye. “I thank Frank for his major
contribution, and wish him well in his new role, which takes him back to his home
State of Queensland.”
Ms Ye welcomed Mr Bryant, who has extensive experience in the airline industry
in Australia, and worked closely with China Southern in 2000 as the airline
prepared to launch services from Melbourne and Sydney to Guangzhou (formerly
Canton).
Mr Bryant entered the airline industry in 1967, starting with Qantas, then becoming
Director of Sales for Sheraton Hotels, before joining the former Federal Airports
Corporation, and later the Sydney Airport Corporation Limited. He was most
recently a consultant to the airline industry.
“I am delighted that Bill Bryant has joined our team in Australia, to work with us in
our next phase of development,” said Ms Ye. “China Southern Airlines will
continue to grow in the Australia - China market, particularly once the new
Guangzhou International Airport opens later this year, and Bill’s considerable
experience will be vital in this important period of expansion.”
Mr Bryant’s appointment is effective immediately. |
