One
of Thailand’s most exclusive and prestigious resorts is soon to open on a paradise bay in the tranquil
and undeveloped northwest coast of Phuket.
Self-contained in ultimate privacy between two private headlands, Trisara is set to
open in October 2004.
The name Trisara is derived from the Sanskrit words tri – three and sara – a forest,
and refers to a mythical tropical garden in which the Buddha was said to have
achieved the third phase of the path to enlightenment.
The resort’s 33 private Pool Villas, 12 privately owned Villa Residences, two
seafront restaurants, pools, spa and gym sit within 40 acres of mature tropical
gardens designed by one of Thailand’s top landscape architects, Bill
Bensley.
Located just 15 minutes from Phuket International Airport, the entire resort has
been designed to ensure that every guest not only has their own private pool but
that each ultra luxurious villa also enjoys fabulous ocean views and sea breezes.
“Stunning beauty combines with generous spaces, absolute privacy, peace and
simple, elegant design,” says managing director and general manager Anthony
Lark, the former general manager of Phuket’s Amanpuri. “Trisara is designed to exceed the expectations of the
most discerning travellers.”
Four years in development, Trisara brings together the formidable talents not only
of Anthony Lark, but of partners Mom Tridosoyudh Devakul (Mom Tri) – one of
Thailand’s best known architects, who first purchased the bay where Trisara is
located, and one of Asian’s most accomplished businessmen, Simon Murray,
investing through his Hong Kong-based “GEMS” fund.
Simon Murray, a former managing director of Hutchison Whampoa and Chairman
of Deutsche Bank (Asia), recently became the oldest adventurer to walk to the
South Pole.
Each of Trisara’s 33 individual pool villas and 12 villa residences displays a
breathtaking ocean view, absolute privacy and a large private infinity pool – with
the bonus of absolutely no ambient noise except waves breaking over the reef
below.
Features include silent air-conditioning, state of the art broadband
internet, dual line phones, 37-inch plasma TVs, excellent music systems, easy to
use lighting, comfortable oversized beds, huge bathrooms and an outdoor private
courtyard rain shower.
Trisara
has engaged Sven Erik Krauss, formerly of The Sukhothai Bangkok as Executive Chef for the resort’s two
restaurants – one Thai, and a the other featuring Mediterranean and seafood
cuisine.
Sven was last year voted “The Best Swiss Chef Overseas” by Gault Millau in
Switzerland. His book “The Food of Thailand: Authentic Recipes from the Golden
Kingdom” is currently a best-seller in the United States.
Trisara also promises a wide variety of fine wines and large selection of cigars --
from its own wine cellar and cigar rooms.
Opening in December, the 1,500 square metre Trisara Spa
includes an outdoor pavilion surrounded by ponds and garden. Yoga & Meditation meanwhile is the specialty
of the resort’s seafront meditation sala -- a secluded haven on a private headland
within the resort, beneath palm trees on the water’s edge.
Trisara’s 100 square metres gymnasium offers high quality exercise equipment,
and a personal trainer.
Guests also have exclusive use of a range of luxury motor yachts, while the resort
has membership of the exclusive “Blue Canyon” golf club just 10 minutes away --
with complimentary golf clubs available for guests. The resort also offers floodlit
tennis and hitting partners. Trisara has appointed a first class PADI dive
company to offer guests diving excursions and certification from the resort.
The resort’s large library features a wide range of books, magazines and games
for guests to borrow -- plus thousands of hours of music downloadable onto iPod
or CDs. |
