Dragonair flew 16,179 passengers throughout its network on April 8, a record
number for a single day. The previous record was set over the Lunar New Year,
when 15,762 passengers flew with the airline on January 26.
"The number of people travelling over Easter has been phenomenal," said Chief
Executive Officer Stanley Hui. "It's really a combination of factors that have helped
Dragonair to this new record, including our new Tokyo service and the long
holiday, and it gives us a great start to the summer season ahead."
Dragonair launched services to Tokyo on April 2, one day after the introduction of
visa-free access for Hong Kong SAR and BNO passport holders.
"Visa-free access plus attractive packages from Dragonair Holidays are making
Tokyo a very popular destination."
"Other popular destinations over the Ching Ming and Easter holidays have been
Kota Kinabalu and Phuket, to where we operated four and three additional flights,
respectively," Mr. Hui said.
"We also operated larger aircraft on some of our Beijing, Xian and Kota Kinabalu
flights to accommodate the high number of passengers wanting to travel to these
cities." |
