PERNAS Hotel Management (PHM), the managers of Malaysia's six Mutiara
Hotels and Resorts recently announced the formal appointment of two new overseas General Sales Agents (GSA's) to represent PHM and to be an integral
part of their worldwide sales network.
General Manager for Yield and Revenue Management, Mr. Halim Merican said:
"We have appointed new GSA's for the United Kingdom and Australia - New Zealand to better represent our six properties in these two important markets."
Mr. Merican continued: "Mutiara Hotels and Resorts are working towards
developing a strong and integrated network of sales representatives in the
world's key markets. In early October, we successfully negotiated a mutually
beneficial arrangement with leading UK marketing representative, Five Continents to represent Mutiara Hotels and Resorts in England, Scotland, Wales
and Ireland. More recently, we have brought Air Marketing Pty. Ltd. into our sales
network to represent us in the ever-important Australian - New Zealand market."
"Both these companies are very experienced in their respective markets. They
will be involved with selling and marketing our six properties and we are looking
forward to long and fruitful partnerships in both markets," said Mr.
Merican.
PHM has already established a successful GSA arrangement with Hotel Japan
Networks to represent the six properties in Japan.
"At the same time, the partnership with Meritus Hotels and Resorts to represent
our Mutiara Beach Resort Penang (MBRP) in certain markets ceased on 31.12.03.
While our relationship with Meritus has always been excellent, we have made a
decision to move away from this association in order to have a more integrated
sales and marketing approach for MBRP that is in line with the other five
properties," concluded Mr. Halim.
The newly appointed GSA's and the existing one in Japan will now represent all
six Mutiara Hotels and Resorts in their respective markets. The chain has six
properties located in key cities and resorts in Malaysia which includes Burau
Bay (Langkawi); Johor Bahru (Johor); Kuala Lumpur; Pedu Lake (Kedah); Penang and Taman Negara/National Park (Pahang).
