Sol Kerzner, Founder and Chairman of the Board of Kerzner International
is to receive the Lifetime Achievement Award at the upcoming Hotel Investment Conference Asia Pacific (HICAP), scheduled for October 13-15, 2004 in Hong Kong.
Kerzner’s career spans some 40 years in the hotel/resort and casino industries. He founded both of Southern Africa’s
largest hotel groups, played a pivotal role in the development of the tourism industries in
the Mauritius and The Bahamas and continues to develop industry leading projects in unique destinations throughout the world. Kerzner International is known
worldwide for its ultra-luxurious hotels and resorts in exotic locations, and Kerzner himself is known for his dedication and
unwavering commitment to the company’s core values, especially his core value #1, “Blow Away the Customer.”
The HICAP Innovation Award was voted on by a select group of Asia’s hotel industry leaders who considered the
innovations and achievements of a number of top hotel industry executives. “We are delighted that Sol Kerzner was
chosen and will accept this prestigious award in person at HICAP. His career is one of many innovative ideas that have
changed the landscape of hospitality and tourism ranging from the mega Atlantis – Paridise Island resort which set new
standards in themed lodging and changed tourism to the Bahamas to the unique, boutique, luxury new brand “One &
Only” which is changing the upscale lodging market around the world”, said Jim Burba, President, BHN, one of the
co-hosts of HICAP. Last year’s HICAP Innovation Award was presented to Ho Kwon Ping, chairman of the Banyan Tree
Group.
HICAP is
a leading hotel investment conference in Asia Pacific, which last year drew almost 400 of Asia’s
top hotel industry leaders. According to HICAP co-host Robert Hecker of Horwath Asia Pacific, “We expect the largest
turnout in the history of the conference at this year’s event. Asia has rebounded and is getting Back to Business again
after the SARS impact and the most recent recession. Investors are back, the markets are stronger and of course China is
still hot”, said Hecker. |
