Qatar Airways Cargo Receives ISO Certification

Travel News Asia 13 August 2004

Qatar Airways Cargo division has received the coveted certification to ISO 9001:2000 standards in recognition of International Organization for Standardization (ISO).

According to Mr. Akbar Al Baker, Qatar Airways CEO, the certificate "better equips the Cargo division to offer its customers a focused service based on timely delivery of consignments."

“We are constantly seeking ways to improve our services, and we remain very committed to our cargo customers and committed to developing cargo as a major part of our business well into the future.

“Given that this certification is aimed at organizations that strive towards excellence with respect to improving their operational processes, providing a trained and capable workforce and pursuing customer satisfaction, Qatar Airways Cargo has surpassed and exceeded these qualifications.

“Our cargo division managed to achieve certification within a short time frame of six months, which attests to their capabilities and proficiency.

“Qatar Airways Cargo is one of our success stories. Our cargo section has seen an increase in revenue of more than 50 per cent for the last three years. For the financial year 2003/2004 the growth figures are exceeding 77 per cent, which no doubt categorizes us as one of the fastest growing cargo operations in the world.

“Last year we took delivery of our first dedicated cargo freighter and will add two further freighters to the fleet by 2007. All these factors ensure that Qatar Airways Cargo has seen an incredible increase in tonnage flown all over the world and will continue along its successful path,” added Mr. Al Baker.
