The
Hilton Beijing is to undergo a US$12.5 million (RMB100M) two-phased facelift starting October this year which will “transform the
hotel into the city’s foremost contemporary lifestyle hub” said General Manager Vlad Reyes.
The first phase, which is scheduled to finish by March 2005, will involve the complete revamping of half of the 340 guest rooms
into modern havens offering warm-hued blonde wood paneling, spacious glass-topped working desks and vibrant striped
flooring. The four-point bathrooms will feature oversized vanity basins, separate bath tub, a glass encased power shower and a
floor-to-ceiling wall mirror. Rooms will be equipped with modern conveniences such as high speed internet access and an LCD
screen in the bathroom of all Executive Rooms and suites.
The second phase will see the completion of the remaining guest rooms, the construction of an additional 20 guest rooms and a
new Hilton Meetings facility, and the refurbishment of the Executive Lounge and Ballroom.
Simultaneously, Hilton Beijing will overhaul all four food and beverage outlets. The new Louisiana Restaurant, prized for its deep
south cajun-style cuisine, will add two private dining rooms each seating 10 people as well as a sophisticated wine bar which is
modeled on a contemporary wine providore, and features a communal wine tasting counter to encourage guests to enjoy the
Hilton Wine Experience. A lively all-day ‘Tea House’ located at the lobby level will shift the cuisine from the western coffee shop
to a bit more Asian. The restaurant’s kitchen buffets and high energy will offset the late-night destination bar and lounge located
on the second floor.
“Hilton Beijing has been a favourite among the international business and local communities since it opened in 1993. By
rejuvenating our hardware and refreshing our public spaces to match Hilton’s renowned service, we will unveil a brand new
Hilton Experience and Lifestyle component in the heart of dynamic Beijing,” commented General Manager Vlad Reyes.
The project is scheduled for completion in mid 2005.
