The Oriental, Singapore re-opens after Multi-Million Dollar Renovation

Travel News Asia 1 December 2004

The Oriental, Singapore re-opens its doors today after a far-reaching, multi-million-dollar renovation. The renovation involved the re-design of all 527 guestrooms and suites, and enhancement to all public areas, dining and meeting facilities. This is the most significant upgrading project for the hotel since opening in 1987, and repositions The Oriental, Singapore amongst the city’s most luxurious hotels.

Guests now enter the dramatic atrium of the hotel through a single doorway. The reception area has been strikingly enhanced with the use of black marble flooring and rich ebony fretwork grilles - reminiscent of delicate Chinese screens and birdcages - evoking a chic and spirited ambience within the lobby.

Featuring stunning views of Singapore Harbour and city skyline, the guest rooms are designed to provide guests with the ultimate experience of comfort and convenience, and are equipped with wireless hi-speed broadband internet connectivity, state-of-the-art in-room entertainment systems, and a large work desk with in-built international sockets featuring plug and play facilities.

An enclave of privacy and tranquility, the Oriental Club Lounge reopens to provide exclusive privileges to Oriental Club guests. With panoramic city views, the Oriental Club Lounge is one of the largest and most sophisticated in Singapore.

From mid December 2004, the Cherry Garden and Axis Bar & Lounge will also be unveiled with entirely new looks and culinary offerings, all set to impress, while Dolce Vita, the Mediterranean restaurant by the pool, continues to present a selection of robust and flavorful cuisine in a sun-kissed environment.

The 13 modern meeting rooms at The Oriental, Singapore, including the ballroom, are equipped with hi-tech conferencing systems as well as wired and wireless hi-speed broadband connectivity. The Oriental Ballroom provides additional cutting edge audio visual facilities, surround sound system and intelligent lighting, making it the perfect venue for all special events. The adjoining VIP room is perfect for pre-function cocktails, or for wedding couples to refresh themselves before or during their wedding celebration.

For guests looking for a retreat, The Oriental Spa offers a wide selection of spa treatments from therapeutic massages to facials. Other facilities include a swimming pool, fitness studio and yoga studio.
