Virgin Blue appoints National Travel Industry Manager

Virgin Blue has appointed Bob Halfpenny as its National Travel Industry Sales Manager, based in Sydney, Australia.

The appointment is part of the Brisbane based carrier's push to enhance its service offering to the trade and further develop its eCommerce sales distribution.

Virgin Blue's Global Sales Manager, Jon Marshall said, "Bob will bring to the Virgin Blue team an extensive background of trade sales, having worked with the Travel Corporation for thirteen years. He will lead the trade team ensuring we grow our relationships with our key distribution points. He understands the industry's needs and will focus the industry team's efforts to ensure the most effective use of our resources."

Bob's most recent role was as National Sales Manager with Creative Holidays. Prior to that he was Director of Sales, AAT Kings in North America and agents may also remember him from his many years at Contiki Holidays where he was the NSW/ACT and WA State Managers. He also spent three years as a Contiki Holidays Regional Sales Manager and Tour Manager in North America.

Commenting on his new role, Bob said, "It is great to be joining an airline that has revolutionised air travel in Australia, especially as it continues to move into exciting new markets, both domestically and internationally."

Bob's role will include managing relationships with key industry personnel, developing wholesale relationships and exploring eCommerce opportunities with new user groups within the sector.
