Emirates SkyCargo is all set to start
freight services to North America this month, offering its customers in the
UAE, Gulf region and Indian subcontinent dedicated and much needed cargo
capacity to and from markets in the east coast of the USA.
On 14 September, SkyCargo will commence regular services to New York’s J.
F. Kennedy Airport, via Gothenburg in Sweden, subject to Government approvals.
The Emirates freighter will fly out of Dubai International Airport every
Sunday to reach JFK on Monday, while the inbound journey from New York to
Dubai will take place every Saturday.
The route will be served with a Boeing 747-200 Freighter with direct
main-deck capability that enables the transport of outsize shipments and is
capable of carrying more than 100 tonnes of cargo in each direction.
Ram
Menen, Senior Vice President Cargo said: “Our new service to New York underlines Emirates’ rapid expansion of service to world wide customers. At
SkyCargo, we are thrilled to add another freight destination to our growing
cargo network."
SkyCargo customers have been anticipating this new Emirates leap across
the Atlantic for quite some time. Now they can count on the airline to help
them access the world’s largest exporter and consumer economy more efficiently
and reliably than ever. SkyCargo already has a substantial customer base in
the United States, currently served through a General Sales Agent and interline partnerships with major airlines and freighter services
in the country.
“We are already looking at a flurry of demand for our new services to the
United States particularly from the Indian subcontinent and Africa. Gothenburg is a major cargo hub in Europe and our customers, particularly in
the Far East, can now use the added capacity and flexibility offered by our
freighters to their advantage,” added Menen.
The three dedicated freighters in the airline’s fleet extensively serve
cargo-only destinations including Bangalore, Amsterdam, Liege, Shanghai and
Taipei. Frankfurt is another new freighter destination set to be launched
on 10th September. Other busy trade routes already served by SkyCargo’s
freighters are Amman, Chennai, Hong Kong, Bangkok, Singapore, Dusseldorf,
Dhaka and Colombo, all of which are also Emirates’ passenger destinations. |
