Emirates SkyCargo is adding a third weekly
freighter frequency to Shanghai, to meet escalating global demand for Chinese products.
Every Monday, starting 8th September, the airline’s Boeing 747-400F will
leave Dubai at 0300 to reach Shanghai by 1120, returning to Dubai on Wednesday at
0610. SkyCargo’s freighters already serve Shanghai twice a week on Sundays
and Thursdays.
Shanghai, one of the fastest growing cities in the world, produces and
exports a tremendous variety of capital and consumer goods: textiles, garments,
specialised dies, lathes, electronics, synthetics, glassware, leather goods,
stationery products, and hardware.
Additional freighter services mean that, besides serving the increasing
outflow of those goods, SkyCargo can now source and ferry much needed supplementary cargo to Shanghai such as machinery, equipment, spares,
chemicals and auto components from around the world to ensure smooth and
uninterrupted production.
The flexibility offered by freighters ensures that finished products are
quickly and efficiently transported across Emirates’ network, which includes
China’s main trading partners - USA, Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea, Germany,
Netherlands, UK, Singapore and Taiwan.
Hiran Perera, Manager Cargo Planning and Capacity Development, said: “We
are delighted to announce our third frequency to Shanghai. Today, ‘Made in
China’ labels are highly popular worldwide. An IMF official predicted recently
that China's economy could achieve and maintain an eight to 10 per cent growth rate for many years. The additional capacity we are now
deploying will help to satisfy the needs of our customers in Shanghai and
around the world.”
SkyCargo’s ambitious expansion plan aims to facilitate total logistics
solutions, together with efficient supply-chain management and customer service excellence. In September alone, its freighters also will start
services to Frankfurt on 10th and New York via Gothenburg (Sweden) on 14th.
SkyCargo’s freighters extensively serve cargo-only destinations including
Bangalore, Amsterdam, Liege and Shanghai. Other busy trade routes already
served by SkyCargo’s freighters are Amman, Chennai, Hong Kong, Bangkok,
Singapore, Dusseldorf and Dhaka, all of which are also Emirates’ passenger
destinations. |
