Northwest Airlines has further expanded its
comprehensive self-service program by extending its nwa.com Check-In service. The service allows customers to obtain their boarding pass and
check-in over the Internet, for travel originating in any of the 15 cities that
Northwest serves on its Asia network.
“No airline has leveraged technology to serve and empower travelers like
Northwest,” said Phil Haan, executive vice president of international, sales
and information services. “Now, our Asia/Pacific customers can take advantage of the speed, convenience and control that self-service check-in
offers.”
Northwest is the first airline to offer this innovative service across nearly all
of its global network. Northwest’s international nwa.com Check-In option
now allows customers with an electronic ticket with travel originating in
Asia to check-in and obtain a boarding pass from the convenience of a personal computer and printer, at home or work, up to three hours before
departure. Customers originating in Asia may access nwa.com Check-In by visiting
www.nwa.com/asia.
Through its airport kiosks across the U.S. and Canada, Northwest also
offers international self-service check-in for all flights originating from North
America. Check-in at Northwest’s E-Service Center airport kiosks in North
America is available up to 24 hours prior to departure, and nwa.com Check-In is available to customers up to 30 hours prior to departure.
As is the case with the current international check-in process for itineraries
originating in the U.S. or Canada to Asia, Europe and Latin America and the
Caribbean, customers originating outside the U.S. or Canada are required
to enter their passport information. Northwest customer service staff will
verify their travel documentation prior to departure.
"Global travelers are already embracing check-in and the many other
self-service options we offer in rapidly growing numbers," said Al Lenza,
vice president distribution and e-commerce. "In March, just under half of
Northwest’s customers worldwide checked themselves in through nwa.com or at one of our 643 E-Service Centers, which are located in more
airports than any other airline in the world."
Northwest will offer nwa.com Check-In to customers originating in Europe
this summer. |
