Gulf visitors heading for Qatar winter carnival get InterContinental Hotel bonus

GCC visitors travelling to Doha to join in the fun of the Qatar Winter Carnival later this month can take advantage of attractive packages at the InterContinental Doha.

Taking place from January 23 to February 14, carnival goers can look forward to an extravagant shopping festival and a wide range of festivities for all the family.

Selected as official hotel by the Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA), the InterContinental Doha has announced a special rate of QR 350 per room per night, inclusive of tax, for all GCC nationals and residents. This rate is valid both during weekdays and at weekends and can be booked throughout the duration of the Winter Carnival.

QTA General Manager, David Tewelde said: "We have chosen the InterContinental Doha as the official hotel for the Qatar Winter Carnival because of its excellent facilities and location next to the main carnival site."

Qatar Winter Carnival attractions include hot air balloon rides, a fairground with Ferris wheel and a variety of other fun rides, and a jazz festival on the Corniche featuring a number of top Arabic performers.

A global village offers handicrafts from around the world, and an open-air cinema screens the latest Hollywood hits while live tele-broadcasting and entertainment is provided in a 4,000 square metre carnival tent. Adding a powerful international sporting flavour is the Qatar Tennis Open.

Carnival visitors from around the Gulf region will find that the InterContinental Doha is the ideal choice for leisure travellers, offering the country's largest beach and outdoor pool, alongside a superior choice of water sport, tennis, squash and gym.

The hotel's location, opposite Doha's only theme park "Aladdin's Kingdom", makes it particularly attractive to families. The City Centre shopping mall, the largest in the Gulf, is a three-minute drive away, and in addition to extensive shopping opportunities, features an ice-skating rink, a snow world and water park for children.
