Following the introduction of
its twice-weekly services from Kota Kinabalu to
Xiamen, Malaysia Airlines
recently added another direct air link to China from East Malaysia with the launch of its scheduled service between
Kuching and Guangzhou via Kota Kinabalu.
The three weekly flights using Boeing 737-400 aircraft depart from Kuching
to Guangzhou every Tuesday, Friday and Sunday at 10.40 a.m. to arrive in
Guangzhou at 4.05 p.m., with a 55-minute stopover at Kota Kinabalu. The return flights from Guangzhou depart at 5.40 p.m. local time the same day, to
arrive Kuching at 10.50 p.m., after a stopover at Kota Kinabalu.
The commencement of this new service reflects Malaysia Airlines'
commitment towards developing more air links in the BIMP-EAGA (Borneo, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines - East ASEAN Growth Area) that provides
vast potential for business and leisure traffic within the region and beyond.
It also enhances Malaysia Airlines' initiative to strengthen Kota Kinabalu and
Kuching as its secondary hubs in East Malaysia with more point-to-point flights between the two cities and other international destinations. |
