Accor
has appointed Mr Fumio Moroi as President & CEO for Japan and Senior Vice
president for Accor Asia Pacific. Previously a founder and CEO of Majestic &
Company, Japan, he has specialised in hospitality asset advisory services
both internationally and domestically throughout Japan.
Mr Fumio Moroi's extensive career has spanned over 20 years working in the
hotel industry. He started his career with JAL Hotels, (formerly known as
Japan Airline Development Company) a hotel operating company and a subsidiary of flag carrier, Japan Airlines.
He distinguished himself in feasibility studies, acquisitions and
partnerships, as well as facilitating reorganisation and restructuring of
hotels to restore and maximise profitability. With his full knowledge of
hospitality, he provided expert consultation and conducted various hotel
evaluations, market assessments and asset advisory services for a US-based
investment company and his own hospitality industry consulting firm.
In announcing his appointment, Accor Asia Pacific Managing Director,
Michael Issenberg, said that Mr Moroi’s extensive knowledge and experience
in the hospitality industry will help guide Accor’s presence and future
development in Japan.
“Fumio Moroi will be a very significant addition to the Accor group in
Japan,” he said.
“Japan is showing encouraging signs of economic recovery and we are
placing a very high global priority on further expanding our hotel network in
Japan to cater for growth in the domestic and inbound markets. We also see
it as a high priority to build our brand presence in Japan to support growth
in outbound travel from Japan to hotels in the rest of the Accor group worldwide.”
Mr Moroi said: “I am very happy and excited to take on this role with Accor.
“The presence of Accor in Japan compared to that in other parts of the world
may be relatively small at this moment, but there is excellent potential for
growth. We currently operate a network of seven hotels including franchised
hotels under the Sofitel, Novotel, Mercure and Formule 1 brands, and we have
plans to introduce other Accor brands in the coming years.
“Accor is unique in the hotel industry because of the diversity of
accommodation we can provide our guests, complemented by a French style through our experience of operating 4,000 hotels worldwide.
“For our hotel owners and investors, we offer renowned brand names and
an unparalleled reputation for providing quality accommodation for a fair
price. We support our hotels through a highly sophisticated global sales,
marketing, reservations and e-commerce network that delivers optimum results, even in difficult trading conditions.” |
