the JAL Group is consolidating passenger handling subsidiary companies operated by the two airlines at five major domestic airports in Japan and
amalgamating four regional passenger reservation and ticketing centers, effective October 1, 2003.
The new measures will contribute to streamlining services and reducing
operating costs. The integration of the two carriers will be completed by April
1, 2004.
Five JAL-operated passenger handling subsidiary companies at Sapporo
(Chitose), Sendai, Tokyo (Haneda), Osaka (Itami) and Fukuoka Airports will
merge with four JAS subsidiaries now operating at Sapporo, Sendai, Itami and
Fukuoka. The five new companies formed will be renamed JAL Sky.
Four regional JAL domestic reservations and ticketing centers located in
Sapporo, Tokyo, Osaka and Fukuoka will merge with three JAS-owned facilities under the new company name of JAL Navia. They will be subsidiary
companies of JAL Sales Company Ltd., the domestic passenger sales and marketing unit of the JAL Group. |
