The Singapore Airlines Board of Directors
today appointed Mr Chew Choon Seng, Senior Executive Vice-President (Administration) and CEO Designate, as an additional Director with immediate effect.
Mr Chew is to continue to be an executive of the Airline.
Mr Chew graduated in Mechanical Engineering from the University of
Singapore in 1969 and received a Master of Science degree in Operations Research and Management Studies from Imperial College, London in 1970.
Since joining SIA in 1972, he has held senior management positions
overseas in Tokyo, Rome, Sydney, Los Angeles and London; and at corporate
headquarters in Singapore, where he headed several divisions, including Planning, Marketing and Finance & Administration, before taking up his
present position.
Mr Chew was promoted to Senior Executive Vice-President (Administration)
of Singapore Airlines in May 2001. He oversees the Finance & Administration
and Corporate Affairs Divisions of the Company, as well as the Secretariat
and Internal Audit. He was named as CEO (Designate) by the SIA Board on
15 January 2003 and will succeed Dr Cheong Choong Kong as CEO when the latter retires in June 2003.
Mr Chew is concurrently Chairman of Singapore Aircraft Leasing Enterprise
Pte Ltd (SALE), as well as being Chairman of SMRT Corporation Ltd, and is
on the Board of Governors of the Singapore International Foundation. |
