American Airlines and SN Brussels Airlines
have announced they will begin a new codeshare service.
Beginning in the summer of 2003, American will place its AA code on SN
Brussels flights from Brussels to destinations across Europe and Africa.
SN Brussels will place its code on American's daily Brussels-Chicago
route and a number of connecting U.S. domestic flights beyond Chicago that are
operated by American.
The initiation of
a codeshare service builds on the existing relationship between American and SN Brussels. The two carriers will continue to offer
reciprocal frequent flyer cooperation with American's AAdvantage program
and SN Brussels Airlines' Privilege program. Members of American's AAdvantage frequent flyer program can earn and redeem mileage credit
when they travel on flights operated by SN Brussels Airlines. Likewise, members of SN Brussels Airlines' Privilege program can earn and redeem
mileage credit when traveling on flights operated by American.
Over the past year, American has enhanced the depth of its cooperation with
several of its strategic alliance partners. Among the new routes added in
recent months were service to Delhi and Bombay with Swiss International
Air Lines, Ltd., via Zurich and to Seoul, Korea, as well as Ho Chi Minh City
and Hanoi, Vietnam, with Japan Airlines via Tokyo. American also began service to Hong Kong via Cathay Pacific Airlines earlier this year. |
