More than 1,400 exhibitors and guests participating at the Arabian Travel
Market (ATM), will attend a reception hosted by the Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) at the desert safari trip
Tuesday, 6 April 2003.
DTCM Director Operations and Marketing, Mohammed Khamis bin Hareb
said that the idea of holding the reception in the desert is to familiarise the visiting
delegates with Arab traditions and our ethnic culture. "It is an effort for
spreading awareness about the emirate's history, traditions and environment. At the same time it is an occasion to provide opportunities for
infrastructure development for recreation, tourism and expansion and promotion of cultural resources. This awareness among the visitors will go a
long way in understanding the culture and traditions of the country," said
Mr. bin Hareb.

He stated a trip to Dubai would be incomplete without a trip into desert. "We
would be completing a full circle by showcasing Dubai's state-of the art
infrastructure at the event and simultaneously familiarizing them with Dubai's rich past by taking a trip to the desert," said Mr. bin Hareb.
The invitees will be greeted with welcome traditional dances performed by
the local folk group. There will be various traditional artifacts, a Henna
corner and camels.
"Ethnic music and traditional dances will be performed by the local bands
throughout the function," said Mr. bin Hareb.
