InterContinental Burswood Resort Perth has received two of the
Australian hotel industry’s most prestigious awards, winning the ‘Best
Overall Hotel’ award at the 2003 Australian Hotels Association (AHA) Awards for Excellence, and the Luxury Accommodation award at the 2003
Western Australian Tourism Awards for Excellence.
The ‘Best Overall Hotel in Australia’ award recognises excellence in every
area of the hotel’s operations, and was presented to InterContinental Burswood Resort Perth for “assuring an outstanding experience for
visitors”. The highly coveted award was chosen from 180 finalists throughout Australia who contested across 20 categories in a bid to
achieve the ultimate recognition for excellence as best overall hotel in the
country.
The Western Australian Tourism Luxury Accommodation award is also a
major accolade and positions InterContinental Burswood Resort Perth as the benchmark not only for service and facilities, but also for the
contribution it makes to attracting visitors to Perth.
Being named the Best Overall Hotel in Australia and Best Luxury Hotel in
Western Australia follows InterContinental Burswood Resort Perth’s recent re-branding and introduction to the global network of
InterContinental Hotels and Resorts.
“To have been chosen for these awards from among the best hotels in
Australia is an outstanding achievement and one that the staff of InterContinental Burswood Resort Perth, Burswood Managing Director
John Schaap and the Burswood Board should be immensely proud of,” said InterContinental Hotels Group Chief Operating Officer for Australia,
New Zealand and South Pacific, Phil Lee.
“There is no greater honour in this industry than winning the Best Overall
Hotel award, and to win both coveted awards in the same year is an enormous coup. We are very proud to be associated with the hotel, which
is an excellent addition to the global InterContinental family of luxury
hotels, and we’re looking forward to letting the world know that InterContinental Burswood Resort Perth is officially Australia’s best hotel,”
Mr Lee said. |
