Singapore Airlines' (SIA) Raffles (business) Class passengers can now
relax in the lie-flat comfort of one of the industry's widest and longest
business class seats, the SpaceBeds, on long-haul routes.
The SpaceBeds are now available on all flights between continents, for
example, between Asia and Europe (Singapore to London), or Asia and North America (Hong Kong to San Francisco), and also on flights between
Europe and North America (Frankfurt to New York).
Each SpaceBed comes equipped with
SIA's inflight entertainment system - the KrisWorld - that offers over 200 entertainment
options on an AVOD (audio visual on demand) platform that enables passengers to pause, rewind and forward the movie, short feature or
music selection at their convenience.
SpaceBeds first took to the air on a flight to London in May 2002.
The lie-flat seat is designed to afford more space and comfort for our business
travellers. Besides a wider and longer sleeping surface, the SpaceBed's
unique cushioning system conforms more effectively to the body's contours, allowing our passengers to rest even more comfortably in their
preferred sleeping positions.
The SpaceBeds were installed at a cost of US$100 million. |
