Dragonair offers 1000 tickets to Phuket for HK$ 1000

Travel News Asia 29 April 2003

Dragonair is offering 1,000 air tickets to Phuket for HK$1,000 as part of a travel industry initiative to boost Hong Kong's economy by stimulating spending.

The offer is part of the "We Love HK" campaign initiated by the Tourism Coalition of Hong Kong, which comprises the Board of Airline Representatives, the Federation of Hong Kong Hotel Owners, the Hong Kong Hotels Association and the Travel Industry Council.

"We have taken this initiative to help boost the local travel industry and support Hong Kong's economy given the effect that SARS has had on the community," said Stanley Hui, Dragonair's Chief Executive Officer. "We hope this campaign will go some way to providing a degree of optimism to people during a difficult time."

To be eligible for the Phuket ticket offer, all an individual has to do is spend at least HK$1,000 at a local tour company, hotel, restaurant or retail outlet between May 1 - 31, 2003, and be among the first 1,000 people to obtain a voucher from the Dragonair office in Central, Hong Kong.

The voucher should then be taken to a travel agent, where it can be exchanged for a return ticket to Phuket. The cost of the ticket is $1,000, while the issuing agent will charge a processing fee of $100 and collect the airport and security tax.

The initial $1,000 spend should include either a local tour or hotel package sold by a registered Hong Kong Travel Industry Council agent, and a purchase at a hotel, restaurant or retail outlet in Hong Kong.
