The Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) is inviting applications for four
scholarships to the 26th Executive Development Institute for Tourism (EDIT)
programme. The three partial scholarships and one Jerome A. Keller Memorial Scholarship will be awarded to promising young
executives to help them get ahead in the travel and tourism industry.
EDIT, June 7-25, 2004 at the University of Hawaii’s School of Travel
Industry Management (TIM) is an intensive three-week executive programme featuring lectures, class discussions, case studies, group
presentations and field visits. EDIT’s faculty comprises respected academics from the University such as TIM Dean Emeritus, Mr. Chuck
Gee, and experienced professionals from diverse industry sectors such as PATA Managing Director-Strategic Intelligence Centre (SIC), Mr. John
Koldowski.
EDIT is open to 24 individuals with management responsibilities in travel
and tourism-related organisations. Pre-requisites for enrolment are a college degree or equivalent work experience in the tourism industry, plus
reasonable proficiency in the English language.
Each PATA scholarship is worth US$2,100 and covers about half the total
programme cost. PATA Board Member, Ms. Gloria Keller, will sponsor the Jerome A. Keller Memorial Scholarship.
Organisations which are PATA members can apply for a scholarship by submitting the following items to PATA Headquarters by
March 15, 2004: - A brief essay on why you wish to attend EDIT
- A current curriculum vitae or resume
- An official recommendation letter from your organisation guaranteeing the balance of the programme costs
