Abacus now offers Direct Booking to WG&A SuperFerry in the Philippines

Travel News Asia 28 October 2003

Abacus powered travel agencies that are accredited by Philippines' largest ocean ferry transport company, are now able to sell tickets for the popular WG&A SuperFerry directly through the Abacus system.

WG&A SuperFerry, the largest ocean ferry transport company in the Philippines with inter-island service links across the Philippines archipelagos, is partnering exclusively with Abacus to expand distribution of tickets of its SuperFerry fleet through the Global Distribution Service's extensive reach within the Philippines and across Asia Pacific.

The Abacus system allows agents to make reservations and receive instant confirmations of ticket availability of the SuperFerry fleet. It will streamline the workflow of a travel agency by seamlessly transferring passenger information from Abacus' booking engine to WG&A's reservation system. This transfer of information immediately returns pertinent information such as the WG&A booking number, SuperFerry rates and cabin and departure information back to the travel agent.

"Abacus, with it's wide distribution network in the Philippines and across Asia Pacific, is a logical partner of choice for us to expand our reach to service our Filipino customers both locally and abroad, and also capture the visitor segment to the Philippines" said Mr. Raffy Sanvictores, SuperFerry COO and Senior Vice President - Passage Division.

"The distribution of WG&A SuperFerry is a testament to Abacus' local touch and global reach strategy. The start of this service in the Philippines is only the beginning of our plans of fully automating our travel agents with WG&A SuperFerry booking facilities. We currently empower close to a thousand travel agents in the Philippines and have plans to expand the WG&A SuperFerry distribution across Asia, into other countries including Hong Kong, Singapore and Malaysia," said Mr. Rogelio Sarreal, Vice President of Associate Sales, Abacus.
