Marriott International today announced its 2003 regional awards for
outstanding achievement in sales, revenue management and event management. The annual awards, given out at Marriott International's sales
leader meeting this year in Guangzhou, China, traditionally recognize outstanding achievement by various teams on behalf of Marriott
International and its properties during the previous year.
Among the awards presented at the meeting was the prestigious Sales
Leader of the Year, given to Joseph
To, of the Shanghai Marriott Hotel
Hongqiao. The property also won the award for the Reservations Sales
Team of the Year. Other awards included Property Sales Team of the Year,
given to the Singapore Marriott hotel, whose Elsie Lee was declared
Reservations Sales Leader of the Year.
The Event Management team of the year award went for the second year to
the New World Renaissance Hotel, Makati City, for its innovative ideas and
thorough implementation. The award for integrated marketing communications went to
Parinita Gawri of the Renaissance Mumbai Hotel.
Other winners included the JW Marriott Hotel Mumbai for the Best Opening /
Conversion; the Hawaii Cluster for the Market Sales Team of the Year; and
the Renaissance Harbour View Hotel, Hong Kong for Accomplishment of Regional Goals.
Regional award winners received trophies and gift cheques, and will be
nominated to Marriott International's Global awards. "Marriott International's
teams across the region delivered noteworthy results despite trying economic times, and these awards are a recognition of that effort," said
Geoff Garside, Senior Vice President, Asia Pacific and Australia for Marriott
International. "My heartiest congratulations go, not only to the winners, but
to every member of Marriott International's team in this region. I feel privileged to work with such a top-notch team."
