This
years Mediterranean Travel Fair 2003 was officially opened Tuesday
16th September by His Excellency Dr Atef Abeid, Prime Minster of Egypt, His
Excellency Dr Mamdouh El Beltagui, Minister of Tourism and the Chairman
of Reed Travel Exhibitions, Mr Tom Nutley. The fourth MTF proved to be another successful event reflecting on the business generated during the
day on the show floor.
Since the first Mediterranean Travel Fair, exhibiting personnel has increased
year on year, with 2003 being no exception. Results demonstrate a 15% increase in the number of exhibiting personnel present on the show floor,
which represents a total growth of 44% over the last four years. Floorspace
covered indicates a larger event than last year with 36 countries present.
"We had a larger number of exhibitors present with many new countries
represented. These included Finland, Poland, Qatar, New Zealand and Kenya", said Tom Nutley, Chairman, Reed Travel Exhibitions.
The number of press (local and international) attending the exhibition
increased by 9%, and more importantly a staggering 13% increase was recorded in the number of regional press/media present at the show,
heightening the profile of the exhibition to these vital local markets.
The show received increases in all areas and an overall attendance of nearly
3,600 was accomplished.
The educational seminar programme was
a popular and vital part of the exhibition with many of the keynote speakers achieving significant
attendance at their sessions, these included seminars from Expedia,
Intoegypt.com, Market Vision - The Middle East Partner to IPK and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Tourism Commission.
"MTF 2003 is a great
opportunity for business meetings. Running alongside the exhibition is a
fabulous educational programme complemented with an unforgettable social
programme. I was proud to be part of this event and truly hope to have the honour of returning next year", said Ms Linda Pereira, CEO, CPL Events,
Portugal.
