Singapore
Airlines has added a new series of collectibles to its inflight shopping
experience which offers customers the chance to bring a piece of
Singapore aviation history home with them. The Heritage Series collectibles includes aircraft models of SIA's
fleet from the late 1940s, when the Airline was known as Malayan Airways,
till today.
The first-ever Heritage Series consists of six sets of collectible aircraft. The
first set, comprising models of the Douglas DC-3, Boeing 707, Boeing 777
and the Concorde in the scale of 1:500 was launched in May 2003. The second set consisting of the Douglas DC-4, Airbus A300-B4, Boeing
737-100 and the 1,000th Boeing 747-400 is expected to be launched in the later part of
2003.
Said Ms Lim Hwee Khim, SIA's Manager of KrisShop, "SIA's aircraft models
are perennial favourites with aviation enthusiasts, hobbyists and our customers. We thought that a 'Heritage Series', in particular models of
aircraft flown during our early days as Malayan Airways or Malaysia-Singapore Airlines, would be much appreciated by collectors and
admirers of our Airline."
Each SIA Heritage series comes with a commemorative booklet that traces
the history of the Airline and its fleet, and is available in KrisShop, the
Airlines' inflight boutique. |
