In common with other major international
airlines, Emirates has announced it is to offset some of the increased costs resulting
from oil price increases by applying additional
fuel surcharges starting in early March.
The fuel surcharge will rise from USD/Euros 0.10 to 0.15 per kilo, or its
equivalent in local currencies. Approval will be gained in those countries
where it is required.
The fuel index is based on the
average price of aviation fuel in five key spot markets (Rotterdam, Singapore, New York, the US Gulf and the West Coast).
These prices are monitored against a fixed base of USD0.535 per gallon
equal to index 100. A fuel surcharge of 15 cents is applied if the index
exceeds 165 points for a period of two consecutive weeks. It will drop back
to 10 cents if the index drops to below 145 points for two consecutive weeks. |
