New Luxury Resort in Vietnam set to open in December 2003

Travel News Asia 25 November 2003

The luxury VinPearl Resort & Spa set on a private tropical island at Nha Trang, Vietnam, is to open mid December.

Developed at a cost of US$30 million with beach-style rooms, villas and suites of a 5 star level, it is being managed by Hong Kong based Furama Hotels and Resorts International, which also manages the luxury Furama Resort, Danang and Caravelle Hotel, Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam.

The soft opening is scheduled for December 22, 2003.

“It is a top class leisure resort hotel providing a superb range of guest facilities and entertainment,” promises Paul Stoll, FHRI’s operator representative in Vietnam.

Built to international 5 star standards, the resort hotel will feature 450 guestrooms (phase 1 - 230 rooms, phase 2 - 220 rooms) as well as beachfront rooms and two presidential suites.

Facilities for the meetings and conference market include a ballroom / banquet hall for up to 800 guests, fully equipped with international standard conference assistance and facilities to handle meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions.

A special ‘Introductory Package’ from just US$85 a night has been launched and applies for either single or double occupancy - and accommodates up to two children under 12. The deal is on offer until October 31, 2004 and also includes buffet breakfast for up to two adults.

“It’s a remarkably attractive holiday package for young families,” said Jeroen van Dongen, General Manager of VinPearl Resort & Spa. “But it is also an opportunity for us to showcase this fabulous new resort and promote an exciting new Vietnam destination.”

More exclusive room category packages are priced at: Deluxe Sea view (US$105), Beachfront Room (US$155), Junior Suite (US$165), Deluxe Suite (US$185) and Presidential Suite (US$1215).

Introductory packages for corporate gatherings are also being offered at just US$22 per delegate a day, including state-of-the-art facilities, coffee breaks and lunch. Half-day packages are US$17.

“The packages are an opportunity to showcase some of the best facilities in Vietnam for meetings and conferences of all sizes,” said Mr van Dongen.

In the resort’s lush tropical gardens is an extensive beachfront swimming pool complex, and a large Spa and salon, which will be operated by Shiseido.

Food & beverage outlets include an al fresco seafood restaurant, all day international dining restaurant, poolside cafe and snack bar.

After hours entertainment is available at various bars, lounges and a karaoke room, soon to be supplemented by a ‘Brewhouse’ micro-brewery and entertainment centre.

Recreational facilities include tennis, archery, and a family beach club operated by the famous Mana Mana on Bintan Island, near Singapore, excellent fishing, snorkeling and scuba diving. The mountainous hinterland is also ideal for hiking and horse back riding.

The resort is also developing its own 18-hole golf course and clubhouse, plus a marina.

Meeting and conference facilities are supplemented by a modern Business Centre offering a full range of business support services and Internet services.

VinPearl is a 10-minute ferry ride from Nha Trang and 20 minutes from the city’s airport, where daily flights operate to Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi and Danang. By road, the resort is 450 kms north of Ho Chi Minh City. Early in 2004, Nha Trang will also benefit from the new Cam Ranh Airport, designed to cater to international flights.

VinPearl guests check in at a reception on the mainland before being shuttled by its own ferry to Hon Tre Island along a landscaped road lined with mango trees to the resort, which is framed by crystal clear sea, mountains and virgin forest.

Adds Mr Stoll: “VinPearl will be a destination resort justified by its location and plentiful facilities and services. Guests will come because it’s different.”

Best known for its glorious beaches, Nha Trang is also renowned for the 12th century Po Nagar Towers, a venerated place of worship; the hilltop Long Son Pagoda and its enormous white Buddha; Nha Trang Cathedral; and an Oceanographic Institute which is open to the public.
