Travel News Asia 23 September 2003

Banyan Tree Phuket, the flagship property of Banyan Tree Hotels & Resorts now has more than 40 awards and accolades to its name. The eco-sensitive resort won honours last Friday for being the Best Asia-Pacific Resort Hotel for the second time in the Business Traveller Asia-Pacific Awards.

The 2003 Readers' Poll was conducted among Business Traveller Asia-Pacific's readers who are frequent travellers in the Asia-Pacific region. Banyan Tree Phuket came out tops for its eco-sensitive design, innovative luxury resort concept and the brand's signature service, exhibiting the best of Asian hospitality. The award ceremony took place at Conrad International Hong Kong, where former Philippine President Fidel Ramos was guest-of-honour.

On receiving the award, Banyan Tree Phuket's General Manager, Mr Kamal Chaoui said: "We are indeed honoured to receive this award for the second consecutive year. Maintaining the appeal of our resorts amidst stiff competition in a niche market is what has made Banyan Tree Phuket the resounding success that it is. We promise to continue to dedicate ourselves to bringing the best of our luxury villas and signature spa experiences to our guests."

Business Traveller Asia Pacific, the Hong Kong-based publication that has entered its 22nd year of publication, paid tribute to Banyan Tree's excellent showing through this award. Its publisher Peggy Teo said: "In difficult times such as these, the cream of the travel industry really does rise to the top. The repeat success of this year's winners proves that excellence and creativity will always win out."
