Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing launches 'Reflection of Dubai'

Travel News Asia 23 May 2003

The Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) launched 'Reflection of Dubai' recently at the department's Head Office. The second edition of the book is an exhaustive collection of collage of modern and ancient photographs of Dubai.

DTCM Director Operations and Marketing, Mohammed Khamis bin Hareb said that the pictorial book reflects Dubai's past, present and future. "A collection of Dubai's achievements and developments can be viewed together in picture format, giving a peep into the emirate's rich past and also it's promising vibrant future," said Mr. bin Hareb.

He said that the objective behind composing a book, which conveys significant information through glossy attractive pictures, is to catch the reader's attention. "A picture is worth thousand words and that is what we have tried to show in the 'Reflection of Dubai'. A reader makes an absorbing journey into our ancient heritage and is enriched with valuable information about the culture and life style of the period. The view enables the reader to feast on a rare treasure of the emirate's past and simultaneously see the modern Dubai and its state-of -the art infrastructure facilities, and accomplishments," said Mr. bin Hareb.

The book narrates different stages and phases of life in Dubai's growth. "To understand the development of any destination, it is important to know from where it started and that is what we have attempted to explain to the readers," said Mr. bin Hareb.

He stated the second edition of the book was launched on popular demand. "Our first edition though comprehensive, had become out dated because of the fast pace at which Dubai has developed. There was therefore, demand for a new comprehensive edition which could fit in not only our present endeavors but also our future commitments," held Mr. bin Hareb.

The copies of Reflection of Dubai can be purchased from leading bookshops in UAE, supermarkets, duty free and also from bookshops in hotels.
