For the coming summer holidays, travelers to Thailands quaint beachside
resort, Hua Hin, will be treated to the destinations 2nd annual jazz festival
being held between 20 to 22 June, 2003.
Titled the Heineken Jazz Festival Hua Hin, more than 10,000 local and
overseas visitors are expected to revel in the music during the event, which
is being organized by the Hua Hin Hoteliers Club in conjunction with other
key supporters such as the Tourism Authority of Thailand, Hua Hin Municipality, Hua Hin / Cha-am Tourism Association and title sponsored by
Heineken.
Travellers planning their summer vacation in Thailand this year can
look forward to joining the international fiesta as well as discovering the
many delights the area has to offer. Holiday makers are welcomed to the beachside resort of Hua
Hin to enjoy great jazz entertainment by the beach whilst savouring choice
seafood and other culinary delights from local vendors. The weekend jazz
event will see a variety of jazz groups rotating their performances between
three stages set in central downtown Hua Hin.
The organizer and promoter of the Heineken Jazz Festival Hua Hin, IMG, has
especially invited a number of top international and local jazz acts to join in
the party. They include musicians from the US, Germany, Malaysia and Thailand. Participating Jazz
Bands
The invited jazz groups include Tiempo Libre, a 7-piece band from Miami
which traditionally performs Cuban and Afro-Cuban music. Their exhilarating and versatile performances have turned them into one of the
most sought after groups of musicians for summer concerts and festivals.
Steve Thornton will also perform with his band Afro Asia, playing Latin Jazz,
R&B and Asian jazz fusion. Steve is a New Yorker who now lives in Kuala
Lumpur and has performed alongside big names such as Harry Belafonte, Tracy Chapman and Sadao Watanabe.
Germanys NU Jazz acoustic quartet, In Touch, along with Thailands jazz
supreme Tewan Sapsanyakorn will also lend great enthusiasm in jazzing up
the weekend in Hua Hin.
Other groups confirmed to play include T-Bone,
Bangkok Connection, KOH - Mr. Sax Man, Bubbles Jazz and I.A. (Independent Artist). |
