During the period 6-12 May,
Singapore visitor arrivals declined 74% as compared to the same period last year. Arrivals from countries like P.R. China, Japan, USA, Australia and Thailand declined over 75%. China
had the most significant drop of 93%.
The
Singapore
Tourism Board stated travel advisories and alerts by various countries (Japan, Australia, New
Zealand, France, South Korea, Canada, Thailand, Brunei, Indonesia, Philippines, Malaysia, Spain, China, Belgium, Mexico, Qatar, Ireland and Italy), as well as the cancellation of events contributed to the decline in visitor arrivals (75%) over the period of 1-12 May. During this period, P.R. China, Japan, USA, Hong Kong, Australia and Thailand recorded the highest percentage decline of over 77%.
In terms of absolute arrivals, PR China, Indonesia, Japan, Australia, Malaysia and India registered the largest drop for this
period.
