InterContinental Hotels Group
(IHG) is set to expand its relationship
with Cockpit Hotels, following today’s announcement that the Group has
been appointed to take over management of Novotel Hindley Adelaide and re-brand it as Holiday Inn on Hindley Adelaide in December, 2003.
The hotel was recently purchased by the
Singapore based Cockpit Hotels,
which also owns Crowne Plaza Surfers Paradise on Queensland’s Gold Coast.
The soon to be re-branded Holiday Inn on Hindley Adelaide opened in 1990
as the Hindley Parkroyal under the management of Southern Pacific Hotel Corporation
(SPHC), and became Novotel Hindley Adelaide in January 2000. SPHC was purchased by
IHG (then Bass Hotels) in April 2000.
“This contract is a demonstration of the confidence Cockpit Hotels has in
our proven ability to maximise the return on their investments,” said InterContinental Hotels Group Senior Vice President of Development for Asia
Pacific, Mr. Tony South.
“Building upon our existing relationships with owners is a core element of
our global expansion strategy. Cockpit Hotels has recognised the potential
of our extensive global sales and marketing resources, reservations infrastructure and membership base of our multi-brand guest loyalty
program, Priority Club Rewards to boost this hotel’s existing share of
business and leisure travellers to Adelaide.
“This contract is also a recognition of the strength of the Holiday Inn brand,
which has performed at an 18 to 20 percent premium to market in revenue and occupancy over the past twelve months - making it the best performing
mid-scale hotel brand in the region. In addition, once again the Holiday Inn
brand has been voted the world’s best mid-market hotel brand in the Business Traveller Asia Pacific’s 2003 readers’ poll,” Mr South added.
Centrally located in the city’s CBD and entertainment precinct, the 181-room
hotel is within walking distance of the Adelaide Convention Centre, Rundle
Mall retail district and surrounding parklands.
“Holiday Inn on Hindley Adelaide’s share of both corporate and leisure
visitors to Adelaide has the potential to increase significantly under the
Holiday Inn brand. InterContinental Hotels Group has a proven track record
in delivering superior value thanks to the strength of its brands and management systems. We look forward to seeing exceptional results in
Adelaide,” said Cockpit Hotels Managing Director, Mr. Teo Kok Woon. |
