Emirates has announced plans for a new daily service to Glasgow
International Airport from Dubai, starting on April 10, 2004.
The new service will open onward access to an Emirates global route
network that stretches across 71 destinations in 50 countries worldwide.
Scotlands Transport Minister, Nicol Stephen, said: "The new service to
Dubai is a major breakthrough for Scotland. It opens up access through Dubai to Australasia, the Indian Sub-Continent and the Far East - all prime
markets for Scottish business and tourism.
The news is a further expansion of Emirates UK operations. It will take the
total number of Emirates services between the UK and Dubai to 11 each day
- a weekly choice of 77 flights. The carrier already operates three times daily
from both Heathrow and Gatwick and twice daily from Manchester and Birmingham* (*the second daily Birmingham service starts on 10 March,
2004).
The flights to Glasgow will be operated with an Airbus A330-200 configured
in two classes with 34 Business and 251 Economy Class seats.
Emirates flight EK026 will depart daily from Glasgow at 2pm, arriving in
Dubai at 0.30am the following day. The return flight, flight code EK025, will
depart Dubai at 7.30am and arrive in Glasgow at 12.25pm the same day. All
times are local. |
