The
737-300 was previously serving US Airways in
the United States. While in Singapore, the plane underwent a refurbishment exercise and overhaul
completed by ST Aerospace Engineering.
Similar to
its other recent
aircraft deliveries, the 737-300 is outfitted with plush leather seats and
boasts AirAsia's signature red carpeting. AirAsia has stated that it plans to adopt
this new makeover to all its existing fleet.
The
Boeing 737-300 was purchased via an agreement with GE Capital Aviation Services (GECAS) signed in June 2003.
AirAsia said it plans to increase its fleet to 21 aircraft by June 2004, and 30 aircraft
by December 2004.
Recently, AirAsia announced its first
regional flight to Phuket from its KL International Airport hub, and from its
second hub in Senai Airport, Johor Bahru to Bangkok.
With the new aircraft in place, AirAsia now commands a fleet of 10 Boeing
737-300s while operating on a 9 aircraft schedule. |
