International visitors touring Australia will have yet another option from
September when Hertz Campervans introduces the "Aussie Motorhome", a
new luxury 2-3 berth vehicle designed specifically for this market.
The fully self-contained van will enable couples or young families to escape
the big cities and "go bush" without having to worry about motel vacancies
or restaurant closing times.
"Motorhomes provide travellers with the independence to see the real
Australia at their own pace," said Hertz Australia Region Vice President and
Managing Director Mr James Bowyer.
"The Aussie Motorhome, designed specifically for Hertz, fills a gap in the
market for a small luxury campervan. I will offer a range of new features for
this size of vehicle including a shower and toilet, and access between the
driving cabin and the living area."

It will also add a further dimension to the Hertz Campervan fleet in Australia
and New Zealand, which already consists of more than 500 motorhomes ranging from 2 to 6-berth campers and 4WD vehicles.
Details of the Aussie Motorhome were released today at the Australian
Tourism Exchange in Melbourne - the nation's largest annual tourism showcase for inbound tour operators.
The first Aussie Motorhome will be completed in August, ready for entry into
service in September. The vehicles have just been entered into the Hertz
reservations system, and can now be booked from AUD $125 per day."
The Aussie Motorhome has four seats - two in the driving cabin and two in
the rear living area, all with seat belts. It comfortably sleeps two adults in an
upper double bed, and a third adult in a single bed, which converts from the
rear dinette table.
The living area offers a spacious 1.9 metres of headroom, and includes an
internal gas stove and griller, a refrigerator, sink, handpump and water tank,
and a wardrobe, a colour television, a radio-cassette and CD player.
The vehicle also features a gas hot water service, a portable gas stove for
outdoor cooking, an external shade awning and outdoor chairs. The cabin and living areas are air conditioned. And the vehicle carries 55 litres of water
plus a 4kg LPG gas tank.
"Another key feature of this vehicle is its easy handling," said Mr Bowyer. "It
has a Toyota Hi-Lux cabin and chassis, and can travel at up to 90 km/h. It
holds 77 litres of fuel, has a typical range of 400 kilometres and with its
power steering it drives just like a car."
Aussie Motorhomes will be introduced progressively in key Hertz
Campervan depots in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Cairns, Adelaide, Perth,
Broome and Darwin.
