The Prime Hotel Beijing completes US$6m renovation

Travel News Asia 19 December 2003

The Prime Hotel Beijing, which was the first hotel in mainland China to join SRS-WORLDHOTELS back in 1993, has just completed a substantial US$6m renovation and modernization.

The 400 room First Class Collection member hotel closed for several months during the slow months of SARS to complete the extensive renovation to all its guestrooms and public areas, and has added a new bar and restaurants, new facilities and an executive floor.

The Prime Hotel enjoys one of the most prestigious locations in Beijing on Wangfujing Avenue, within easy walking distance of Tiananmen Square and The Forbidden City, which can be easily seen from the hotel’s higher floors.

“The Prime Hotel has always been a terrific choice in Beijing on account of its superb location, and now after its renovation it really is a great option for either business or leisure travellers,” said Roland Jegge, Vice President Asia/Pacific of SRS-WORLDHOTELS.

The new lobby level bar recreates a Shanghai 1930s style and includes a live torch singer nightly, while the lobby area has been redesigned to accommodate an attractive all-day dining restaurant, Café Wangfujing.

For fine dining, the hotel’s Elysee Grill offers Western favourites, while the signature Emperor Chinese restaurant has been remodeled to add ten VIP rooms, many with commanding views of the street and lobby level below.

Guestrooms, at 42sqm have been remodeled in a comfortable, modern yet classical style and all now feature separate shower and bathtub. The hotel’s Regency Club executive floor rooms also come with access to a private club lounge with meeting facilities and where complimentary breakfast and evening cocktails are served.

Health and fitness facilities include a modern well-equipped gymnasium and a boutique indoor pool. A variety of massage services are also available.

The hotel also has nine function rooms with a capacity for up to 400.
